"We`re 4 piece band,not an 8 piece"
On Sat afternoon on 27th April 2002,me,Phil and Andy went to Leamington to look in music shops and have a couple of pints. This was quite a nice routine we did every now and again.Kev didn`t go. Whilst in a pub Andy started talking about how it might be good to get Tony in the band to do some singing and play some different songs to compliment our existing set. To work along side Kev and make the band sound better. We had know Tony for quite some time.Him and his bird Lisa used to follow the band and we was even giving Tony a support slot between set`s Phil agreed.I was shocked at the idea "this is mutinous talk" I said, but got drawn into the conversation thinking about the endless possibilities of more varied song`s.
The reason behind this conversation was Kev`s increasingly erratic performances.
He was starting to turn up too more and more gigs under the influence.
We thought the bands performance was starting to go down hill.
We wanted to get it back on track.
The trouble was,how would Kev take it?
The outcome was not good.Kev thought we was trying to get rid of him and missed the point totally.
In retrospect,I would have felt the same and I dont think we handled it well...but hey..we`re rock stars not pscyhiatrist.
We eventually agreed that Tony wasn`t right for the band and cleared the problem up.
But the damage had been done.
Andy was upset of the dismissal of his friend Tony by us and Kev.
To make matter`s worse Andy`s bird had started stirring the sh*t with Kev`s bird.
This had the effect of making Kev and Andy stop communicating with each other.
My favourite saying at the time was "We`re a 4 piece not an 8 piece"
But the women were having an influence and the rot had set in.
But we had sorted thing`s out and was looking foward the the summer`s gig`s and the World Cup.
